Here we are! Gwent’s fifth Italian meta snapshot is here!
The new expansion has changed face to Gwent and to meta, the introduction of new cards and new mechanics has significantly refreshed the game.
The faction that benefited most from the Master Mirror expansion is without a doubt Skellige, who with its Tempo Warrior archetype dominates the ladder from the first day with disarming results, so much so that he has earned an unprecedented Tier 0.
The leader ability Second Wind and some important cards have even suffered a nerf, despite that the power of the deck has remained unquestionable. We had the opportunity to insert many Skellige decks in this meta snap, but we opted to reduce the number and insert some of them in Special Mentions, simply not to generate excessive redundancy.
Immediately afterwards we find several archetypes of the Northern Realms, a faction that has received new cards capable of making it solid and difficult to manage. Even Monsters has benefited greatly from the new cards received thanks to the Master Mirror expansion.
Syndicate ranks high thanks to the substantial updates that the archetype Congregation has received.
Nilfgaard and Scoia’tael apparently seem to have fallen behind, but it is a shared idea in the Team that does not depend so much on the factions themselves but on the complexity of playing them right now in a meta full of Skellige. We would like to emphasize that, for this specific post expansion meta snap, the usual analysis criterion for establishing lists and tiers has not been applied, but we have dedicated ourselves considerably to an intense phase of deck building.
As usual, the whole ESC team is at your disposal to clarify any doubts, questions or curiosities.
We can’t wait to know what you think!
Snapshot represents the set of the main competitive decks which, divided by tier, create a complete vision of the current meta. Snapshot varies according by the changes introduced (about every month) each time a new season begins.
Tier 0 = This section contains t decks that tend to monopolize meta. Decks so superior to others in every aspect that they cannot be placed in Tier 1. Capable of winning easily in any situation, often regardless of the draws.
Tier 1 = This section contains decks that tend to define the meta, to be competitive against other Tiers 1 and not to be disadvantaged starting from Blue Coins. They provide a favorable match-up against the lower tier decks.
Tier 2 = This section contains decks that are less consistent than Tier 1 but, with optimal access to all the resources of the deck, they could win against Tier 1 decks. They suffer more from the Blue Coin.
Tier 3 = This section contains the decks that can have a good winrate but suffer the match-ups against decks of the upper Tiers. In some cases there may be variations of some cards compared to the stronger Tiers.
Special Mentions = Decks difficult to pilot, but in the right hands they can compete against the major tiers. Finally, they have the advantage of the surprise effect which should not be underestimated. These decks are also not recommended for inexperienced players.
Star symbol meaning: The increasing number of stars indicates the strength that the deck expresses within the Tier of belonging. The greater the number of stars, the greater the force expressed.

INTRODUCTION
Undoubtedly the strongest and most solid deck of this moment, so strong that it needed to be nerfed after a few days from the beginning of the season to stem Skellige’s excessive power.
However this nerf, albeit very heavy, has not had a very strong impact on the win rate of this deck, which, till this day, remains the best in the ladder.
STRENGTHS
– Being able to play cards such as Hemdall, Morkvarg or Tyrrgvi Tuirseach during round 1 knowing that, thanks to Second Wind, they will be able to get back into play from the graveyard, this allow you to use them with any risk in the early stages of the game.
– The veteran skill makes bronze cards like An Craite: Marauder or Tuirseach: Assault excellent even in a short round 3.
WEAKNESSES
– Due to the fact that it is indeed a Tempo deck, this means that it can’t express the maximum of its potential if it is pushed, which in any case is not simple; however, if in round 2 you are forced to use the leader’s ability, the risk is to reach round 3 with some problems.
– Being a deck that uses the Devotion mechanic (faction cards only) we do not have cards like the Bomb Heaver to solve an hypothetical Scenario play.
TACTICAL CHOICES
– Skjall can be inserted instead of Donar An Hindar to have an important tempo play.
– Instead of the An Craite Warrior it is possible to insert a Heymaey: Protector useful especially in mirror matches.

INTRODUCTION
This list is a far enhanced version of the old Greatsword archetype, which, thanks to the cards released in the new Master Mirror expansion, has received truly devastating tools.
STRENGTHS
– The Warriors package is certainly the main strength of this archetype, in fact thanks to the Veteran keyword, it also manages to turn our bronze cards into huge plays, especially in the third round.
– Combined with the old package of ships that ping and manage to damage practically all enemy units, you can always get a Wild Boar as a finisher with a great amount of points.
– The strongest card that give solidity to this archetype is the new evolution Harald An Craite, and the new tutor which is specific for the warriors, Bloody Eagle. Thanks to these cards, we are always able to use our strategy of damaging enemy units, thus taking advantage of both the Bloodthirst cards and the boosting of our Greatswords.
– The Leader Second Wind allows us to concatenate different types of play, which make this deck very difficult to counter.
WEAKNESSES
– Being a Tier 1 this deck does not have real weaknesses, but, if we really want to find a flaw, it could be the fact that playing with the Devotion mechanic, forces us to give up the Bomb Heaver as a choice and, this bring us in a spot in which there is no real solution to the Scenarios (which are always cards not to be underestimated).
TACTICAL CHOICES
– There are not too many variation regard this build, but if you want to put some more aggressive or proactive plays, you can insert Skjall for Donar an Hindar.

INTRODUCTION
Swarm is an archetype which aims to fill the board with tons of units, thanks mainly to Kerack Frigate, boosting them all with Triss Telekinesis and Bone Talisman, and close the game slamming 15 points Lyrian Scytheman and Vissegerd. All above supported by a great engine package with Anna Strenger and Temerian Drummer.
STRENGTHS
– A long round almost unbeatable if the Kerack Fregate manage to stick on the board
– Some great options for contesting round 1
– A very strong push on round 2 when provided with a nice hand
WEAKNESSES
– As every other swarm deck this one suffers from cards like Lacerate, Surrender and Lambert
– The deck doesn’t run removals except from Vissegerd, so sometimes the opponent’s engines can be a problem
– If all of our Kerack Fregate get answered, we can do very little to win the game
TACTICAL CHOICES
Ronvid the Incessant instead of Necromancy.

INTRODUCTION
With the release of Master Mirror expansion, the already well-known archetype based on Crime cards which synergize well with the Intimidate mechanics has been significantly buffed, due to this changes the Gord version now has much more power than it had in the past.
STRENGTHS
– Even on red coin this deck is able to abuse his coins thanks to the great potential of its plays (Oneiromancy on Portal and Ferko on Novigradian Justice) and a Bronze package (Fallen Knight, Congregation, Assault and Bloody Good Fun) thanks to these cards it is able to maintain control of the opposing board, while buffing the units equipped with Intimidation.
– On the short round Gord in combination with the Jacques Evolution card often guarantees us a play big enough to win the game.
WEAKNESSES
– When it’s not possible to win the first round, if pushed in round 2, this deck could suffer particular aggressive plays by the opponent.
In these cases the leader in combination with Whoreson Senior could be our best and only answer.
– If the opponent finds a way to destroy our engines, much of the achievable value would be halved and Gord may not be enough to make us win the game.

Tavern Brawl -> Adalbertus Kalkstein
Smuggle -> Bomb Heaver

INTRODUCTION
With the release of the latest expansion, the Commando archetype has gained exceptional tutors thanks to Oneiromancy and Amphibious Assault; very useful not only to find the gold cards, like the ones which are necessary to win, such as Draug and Bloody Baron, but, at the same time, it has the possibility to add between round 1 and round 2 a solidity in the development of the Blue Stripes combo and Blue Stripes Scout that it didn’t have before, giving this archetype an even more explosive and solid short round 3 than before.
STRENGTHS
– The deck has a great solidity in finding the combo necessary to develop at least 4 or 5 Commando within 2nd round and also two tutors for Princess Pavetta. This allows us to be able to use Draug to its full potential even in a short round 3
– Thanks to the new Kerack: Frigate card, we have the alternative possibility of using it in round 2 by taking advantage of the multiple 2-strength Volunteers developed by it. The Kerack: Frigate is very useful to push against decks that find themselves in a difficult spot caused by having too many removals
– However, the deck tends to show its full potential in a round 3 with four or less cards in hand, this needs to happen in order to abuse the points developed by the Blue Stripes Commando combo, which, still today, develops too many points for most of the archetypes in the meta (especially if we have the last say)
WEAKNESSES
– Despite the improvements in solidity, it may happen that you do not draw part of the combo in the first round and in doing so you will not take any advantage of the new tutors at their best.
In these cases we will therefore be forced to pass and have to use Draug in the second round to stop the push with the real risk of not being able to rely on the combo in a short round 3.
TACTICAL CHOICES
In the Draug version there are no particular or huge changes to be made except to remove Bombs Heaver in favor of Pellar depending on the meta, however in that case it is advisable to remove Cintrian Artificer for the second copy of Kerack Cutthroat, due to the fact that they are having an effective response to the increasingly present of Tyrggvi Tuirseach when we match against Skellige.

INTRODUCTION
In the early days of the season it was thought that Monsters should necessarily play decks based exclusively on the Wild Hunt and the Frost mechanics, but, with the evolution of the meta, this hybrid archetype was born and it is capable of competing against any deck that occupies a place in the top tier.
STRENGTHS
– The main strength is undoubtedly playing a very short round 3 where cards such as Auberon: Conqueror, Ozzrel or Dettlaff: Higher Vampire (combined with the skill of the leader) are able to generate a huge amount of points
– Red Riders represent a very strong Tempo play going, not only they put Frost on all the opposing rows, but also they put in our field a precious engine such as the Winter Queen, tempo play that thins the deck at the same time
– With the introduction of the Devotion mechanic, it is possible now to understand whether our opponent has the possibility or not of removing our Scenario; the proliferation of decks which exploit this mechanic leave the way free for those who use the Scenarios, making Haunt a much more useful card than it was in the past seasons.
WEAKNESSES
– If it’s true that the short round is a strong point of this deck, it’s also true to say that the long one on the contrary is definitely its weak point, for this reason it is always necessary to try to win round 1.
– The positions of the leader must be managed because in addition to those there are not many other units that consume and therefore you can risk not being able to activate all the latest wishes, cards with essential skills for this specific archetype, just mention: Miruna, Dettlaff: Higher Vampire or Werecat.
TACTICAL CHOICES
– Adda Striga or The Beast can be inserted instead of The Apiarian Phantom.
– Instead of the 2 Bruxas you can insert 2 Natural Selection.

INTRODUCTION
With the new cards introduced in the recent Master Mirror expansion, the Spies mechanic has returned to vogue, which has given thousands of emotions to the older players of Gwent.
In combination with the consolidated Scenario archetype based on Masquerade Ball and the Soldiers package, Nilfgaard has become a much more complex and deep faction to play, capable of expressing itself best only in the right hands.
STRENGTHS
– The Leader ability Strategic Retreat is decisive if it is used efficiently and gives this archetype a very eclectic game plan
We can use it to make huge and decisive plays based on the match-up, for example, deploying Ramon twice on the Impera Enforcers, or using the skills of Vincent, Braathens or Usurper twice.
This leader also allows us to develop Scenario in one turn.
– The combo based on Ramon Tyrconnel and the Impera Enforcers allows us to have control often and willingly decisive during the final round, by using it properly it is possible to destroy many dangerous pieces that the opponent puts on the field. Having initiative in round 3 is often useful in order to use this combo at its best.
WEAKNESSES
– The Leader Strategic Retreat unlike Imperial Formation suffers more from the push.
The risk can be that we may be forced to invest important if not essential plays in the case we should lose the round 1
– Coup de Grace is often a double-edged sword, it can help us win in different match-ups to the cost of being little more than a dead card in others
– The absence of a Defender often puts at risk an essential card such as the Scenario or an engine as important as the Impera Enforcers
– The deck has a small number of proactive cards, and the presence in the meta of cards with Veil does not help our Poisons
TACTICAL CHOICES
– You can insert Defender in replace of Coup de Grace and upgrade a Magne Division into a Ard Feainn Tortoise.

INTRODUCTION
This list uses the strength and versatility typical of the leader Deadeye Ambush by pairing the classic elves package with some of the new cards with Symbiosis, and therefore with the Nature spells necessary to take advantage of the new ability.
The Poisons package completes everything by giving us the opportunity to solve even major threats.
It is a deck that makes no effort to play with Devotion: this allows you to have an Eithnè Young Queen with Veil and Symbiosis in round 3, as well as the support of the Oakcritters, excellent bronze of 7 points at 4 provision.
STRENGTHS
– This deck gives its best by starting second (on red coin), because with such a versatile leader and cards like Aelirenn it is always able to use his points in the best way possible to close the first round at even cards
– It holds a push well, and manages to play much better in a short round than the previous lists thanks to the addition of the Symbiosis ability and cards like Eithnè Young Queen and Forest Protector
WEAKNESSES
– Drawing Aelirenn at the wrong time can be very annoying, so you need to be careful when mulligan cards
– In order to play the deck in the best way possible, it is necessary to count well the slots in the rows that will be occupied each round, also counting the three charges of the leader, because you can fill the board pretty easily with the elves and cards with Symbiosis. The risk (especially against Nilfgaard who can play spies) is to find ourself with the card in the hand that has to be played and the board filled
TACTICAL CHOICES
– Unfortunately, there are no great possibilities for changes due to Devotion
– If you want, you can focus more on the Symbiosis package rather than on the Poison one by replacing the Forest Whisperers with two Hamadryas

INTRODUCTION
Months pass by but Mystic Eco always remains an exceptional leader for the Scoia’tael faction.
This basic list is a Spell Gord and it must be played as such: this deck is able to take round 1 investing all the cards for pushing in round 2 and bring the game to a short round 3 in which you can enforce the strength of Harald Gord who can also play for 15 points by itself.
The second most important card after Harald Gord is Water of Brokilon, which in combination with Abandoned Girl allows us to have a very long round 1 and to be able to make the most of our leader according to the situation.
Harald Gord, Eithne Young Queen and the Forest Protector are the perfect cards for a short round 3, which paired with a leader on the Call of the Forest or Isengrim’s Council allows you to make huge amount of points even only with 3 cards.
STRENGTHS
– The strength of this deck is to be able to have up to 3 strong rounds, relying on many Power-Plays, and not to lose an excellent malleability
– We have the option to use leader ability in round 2 to push or resist a push, but still, it doesn’t mind using it in round 3 to double Water of Brokilon if we were caught in a long round or to go fishing Harald Gord directly from the deck with Isengrim Council
WEAKNESSES
– It is a very difficult deck to play at its best and requires a lot of practice, because every choice from the changed cards with the mulligans passing to when to use the leader, strongly affects the game
– You should have an idea of your game plan during the initial mulligan based on the cards you have in your hand, in order to be able to take advantage of the tutors and the leader to the fullest, going forward with the rounds
– Furthermore, being a highly proactive deck, it does not have strong answers to contrast what the opponent may play, so you need to understand very well when to leave a round that you will not be able to win and trying to remove the engines of the opponent before they become a threat for us
TACTICAL CHOICES
– Being an Harald Gord-based deck, the chances of modification are very limited, and the fact that it is a Devotion deck too reduces these possibilities even more
– You can therefore think of playing it without Devotion to add cards such as Korathi Heatwave and Bomb Heaver

INTRODUCTION
The Master Mirror expansion brought a card like the Ethereal into the game, which has become ever since immediately essential for Monster faction; bringing the ability of Ysgith back to the meta.
STRENGTHS
– Ethereal is able to generate many points in a combo with the leader’s ability. Each turn the fruit of Gernichora, with a bse power of 1, it becomes a copy of the Ethereal enhancing its base power to 4
– Caranthir allows you to create a second Ethereal and the opponents usually don’t have the answers for this situation
– The inclusion of Oneiromancy assures us two things: to always have Scenario, with which it is possible to push 2nd round, in case of victory of 1st round itself or a Korathi to contrast opponent’s Scenario
WEAKNESSES
– The deck has a long non-exceptional round and the presence of a few control cards is a disadvantage, if we are against a deck with many engines as Northern Realms. In this situation you can easily reach the limit of playable cards in your side of the board and it is quite annoying, to not being able to play the last few cards, due to this problem
– It is quite dependent on draws: the lack of the Ethereal or Oneiromancy are likely to make you lose almost every game. The situation is similar if Scenario or Deathwish units are missing, during the second round while he is pushing, as against Nilfgaard, where we want to get to a third short round
– You are punished by anti-swarm cards such as Lacerate or those that allow opponent to move one unit to the other row. It is important to emphasize how the unit is moved into another row, it will be always positioned on the other row but on the far right, so the opponent may move your Ozzrel in the Ethereal row and leave you with no answer (if it is the ninth card in the row).
TACTICAL CHOICES
– Korathi Heatwave or Geralt: Igni (in this case putting Bomb Heaver in is strongly recommended)

INTRODUCTION
This archetype of Northern Realms is an hybrid control/engine version that takes advantage of the very strong cards released in the new Master Mirror expansion, and manages to score points by boosting its units over time, while controlling the enemy board with excellent units and direct removals.
STRENGTHS
– Thanks to Amphibious Assault, this deck manages to do very well in the first rounds by exploiting its bronze units and the mechanics of boosting them over time with engines such as Anna Stranger/Drummer, to enhance Vissegerd at the end of the round
– In round 3 or even even in round 2 it is possible to get in control of the match by exploiting Defender and the leader ability Pincer Maneuver, which allows us to have practically an answer to any threat or combo in the current meta, fitting the strength of the gold of Northern Realms in one move (Falibor and Philippa Blind Fury, for example)
– Viraxas Prince allows us to activate again the Order ability of cards such as Prince Anseis or Bloody Baron, which, in many match-ups, can be an essential victory conditions if played at the right time
WEAKNESSES
– The deck is really difficult to play; maximizing the best play in the various match-ups is not simple at all, this can be a big weak point
– Not drawing a key card such as Amphibious Assault in round 1 could be fatal in the economy of the game, this is certainly the biggest flaw of playing with Devotion, and giving up very strong tutors like Oneiromancy
TACTICAL CHOICES

INTRODUCTION
This is an archetype which has already consolidated its position over time, and also in this new expansion it has found a new value thanks to the introduction of Oneiromancy which offers, compared to the old Vivaldi’s Bank, a much more solid choice to tutor fundamental cards in our game.
STRENGTHS
– Jackpot leader ability offers a certain versatility to the deck, thanks to this we are able to defend important cards such as Imke and Borsodi or even our own Defender (Azar Javed) which is essential to defend Passiflora and our engines
– Jackpot allows you to immediately have access to 9 coins, with which we will be able to steal fundamental cards with Philippa Eilhart from the opposing part of the board
WEAKNESSES
– This archetype is very difficult to pilot, since the mechanics of the coins in combination with the leader himself allow us to have many possible variables within a game which is not always easy to manage.
Consequently, if we do not know how to manage our resources, we will find ourselves with very few points in our part of the board.

The Soldier archetype has not undergone major changes, but still remains within this meta an excellent tactical choice to try to attack some opposing decks.
STRENGTHS
– The real strength of this deck is the ability to control the opposing half of the board with cards such as Helge, Ramon used on Ard Feainn Crossbowman or using Maraal and the other poisons in the deck.
– The play of Stefan Skellen into Bribery, even if random, with his potential guarantees an additional chance of victory.
– Braathens allows the archetype to have a certain flexibility within the deck’s plays
WEAKNESSES
– Not talking about the above mentioned combos and plays, the deck is not able to generate many points, as a consequence against engine decks or very aggressive combo decks we could find ourselves in serious difficulties since the points that are available to us may not be enough

INTRODUCTION
The addition of some cards in Master Mirror expansion allowed this deck to improve considerably, as it gained solidity with the addition of cards such as Oneiromancy and a whole new bronze package capable of fixing some problems of the previous versions.
If Tempo Warrior wasn’t so succeeding, the list certainly would have deserved more space.
STRENGTHS
– The new bronze package has given more solidity in the plays to a deck like Lippy that needs to have fast and at the same time an aggressive gameplay, essential to get to a possible short round 3.
– Cerys an Craite is still a card capable of producing an extraordinary amount of points in the short ones
– Oneiromancy alone manages to give us an important solidity in using the cards we have in the deck. Lippy definitely needed it.
WEAKNESSES
– The deck suffers terribly against Lockdown, needless to explain why
– The risk of bricking the hand still remains a possiblity however, despite the new support of Oneiromancy
– Despite the new bronze package the deck often runs the risk of not winning r1 against well equipped engines deck. Especially if you start first.
TACTICAL CHOICES
– It is possible to remove Geralt: Igni in favor of a card like Tyrggvi Tuirseach, a devastating card if the opponent doesn’t expect it.

INTRODUCTION
The Warrior archetype and the related new cards have given to this leader the opportunity to perform effectively mainly because he uses an aggressive style of gameplay, making him lesser only to Second Wind which is the main leader’s ability for Skellige.
STRENGTHS
– This list, exactly like its equivalent of Second Wind, can count on solid tempo plays due to its bronze and to its gold cards
– Although it cannot use punchy cards such as Harald the Cripple or Morkvarg for a second time, it can still play aggressively, using his skill in a push in the round 2 with the combination of Skjall /Jutta an Dimun and Sigrdrifa’s Rite, it is useful not only to carry out an incisive removal on the opponent’s board, but at the same time to create a tempo play of 10/12 points
WEAKNESSES
– Despite the various qualities listed so far, given the numerous clashes between Skellige in ladder, even if this leader ability is very strong it is indeed less incisive against and oppressive than Second Wind, which is why it is less performing than other Skellige lists in the long term
TACTICAL CHOICES
– The main and perhaps only incisive change of this list that you can do, is to remove Delirium and Donar an Hindar to insert Gremist and a copy of Freya’s Blessing making this list less vulnerable to locks and poisons and gaining some more flexible plays

INTRODUCTION
This Scoia’tael archetype that uses the Mystic Echo leader, was born entirely with the arrival of the new Master Mirror expansion, as it exploits the new keyword Symbiosis.
Symbiosis: Whenever you play a Nature card, Spawn a Wandering Treant in a random allied row and set its power equal to the number of units with Symbiosis you control.
STRENGTHS
– The main strength of the deck rely on to generate many units on the board and play several engines together, which allows us to make many points in time or in the immediate after time, simply by playing a bronze nature card, making them really difficult for the opponent to remove
– The deck finds an huge finisher in The Great Oak, even in any short rounds
– The peculiarity of this deck is that it can interpret the game based on our opponents, playing aggressively against the decks that have a stronger long round than ours, and going for maximum value in a round 3, with cards like Eithnè: Young Queen, and using our leader who also allows us to play double Water of Brokilon and Big Oak as a last say
WEAKNESSES
– The deck suffers a lot of area removals, so cards like Surrender, Lacerate, Lambert: Swordmaster are really deleterious for our strategy.
It is also quite difficult to play around it, because the evocations that we are gonna make with Symbiosis are hard to manage, since it spawns those units on a random row
TACTICAL CHOICES
You can change the combo package of Treant: Treant Boar, Malena and Trained Hawk to insert the Poisons/Harmony package with Weeping Willow and double Driade Rangers.
